The Deacons' Fund

The generosity of the church has always been felt in shared, communal support to meet practical needs that arise within the church (Acts 2:45, 4:35). The Deacons' Fund provides financial assistance to participants in Oak Church Brooklyn’s community.

The Deacons’ Fund offers financial assistance for emergency and other personal needs. Common uses of the Deacons’ Fund are: rent, groceries, medical bills, counseling, funeral expenses, spiritual direction, and other similar needs.

To request assistance, please submit the short application below and one of our deacons will reach out to you with next steps.

Meet our deacons

When applying for the Deacons' Fund, you’ll be working with one of our Deacons of Generosity. Our deacons help to receive, assess, and connect those in need with practical help through our deacons’ fund, and connect you to financial, pastoral, or professional counseling as needed. They are qualified by their Christlike character, their loving and generous spirit, and their willingness to serve by leading our church in responding to the practical needs in our church family with compassion, responsibility, and love. They are:

The Deacons' Fund process

  • Once you submit the application, you will receive a response from one of our Deacons.

  • The Deacon will discuss the need with you (via phone or zoom) to understand how we can best help, and if it fits within the purpose of the Deacons’ Fund.

  • After discussing the need, the Deacon will follow up to let you know if we are able to meet the need.

  • If we are able to meet the need, funds are issued through check or Zelle payment.

  • Your submission and discussions will be completely confidential to our Deacons of Generosity and limited full time staff members of Oaks Church Brooklyn. Question for a deacon? Email them here.
