Generosity
At Oaks Church Brooklyn, we not only encourage our members to be generous, but we also provide financial coaching, classes and financial support through our Deacons’ Fund. And if you have a story about how you have received generosity or have been able to be generous in this community, please scroll down to share your story!
Coaching
Oaks Church Brooklyn provides financial coaching for attendees who are looking to make a budget, set financial goals or have no idea how finances even work! You’ll meet with a trained lay-leader (Emanuel, Matt, Meg or Madeline) who will listen to where you have been and help you get to where you want to go.
Coaching is highly recommended to those about to get engaged. We’ll work with you and your partner to get your house in order and discuss what should be shared before marriage.

Classes
Visit our calendar to see when these are happening throughout the year!
Generosity Course
What is wealth? We all have some sort of wealth, but we may not know it or know how to use it. In this class, we'll locate what we have believed about wealth and assess our current overall wealth.
Generosity Course: Part 2
Now that you know what areas you are abundant in wealth or are lacking in wealth, this course moves you to take action in moving towards generosity or moving towards health.
Deacons’ Fund
The Deacons’ Fund provides financial assistance to participants in the Oaks Church Brooklyn community offering assistance for emergency and personal needs. Common requests have been for rent, groceries, medical bills, counseling, funeral expenses, spiritual direction, and other similar needs.
The Deacons' Fund process
Once you submit the application, you will receive a response from our Generosity Deacon, JP or from Executive Director, Meg. They will discuss the need with you (via phone or zoom) to understand how they can best help, and if it fits within the purpose of the Deacons’ Fund. After discussing the need, they will follow up to let you know if we are able to meet the need. If we are able to meet the need, funds are issued through check or Zelle payment. Your submission and discussions will be completely confidential to our team and limited full time staff members of Oaks Church Brooklyn.
Questions for JP or Meg? Email them here. Please note that the Deacons’ Fund is for those who are a part of our Oaks Church Community only.

Storytelling is a way for the body of Christ to offer encouragement to one another. If you have a story about growing in your generosity rhythms, God meeting your needs or getting out of debt, we'd love to hear it!
