Community Groups

In Acts 2, the early church shared life together—eating, praying, worshipping, and serving side by side. In a city as fast-paced and isolating as New York, we believe the church is called to be a countercultural community of presence and care. Our Community Groups are the primary way we live that out at Oaks.

Neighborhood Groups

Neighborhood Groups are long-term, geographically rooted communities that meet biweekly to weekly during the Fall and Spring. These groups focus on:

  • Sharing meals and life together

  • Practicing spiritual formation through The Good Way

  • Caring for one another and engaging in neighborhood-based justice

  • Cultivating deep, place-based belonging and discipleship

Affinity Groups

Affinity Groups are flexible, time-bound gatherings built around a shared interest, life stage, or spiritual focus. Affinity Groups are available year-round, depending on interest and leadership. Examples of Affinity Groups include:

  • Book clubs and Bible studies

  • Justice initiatives

  • Contemplative prayer circles

  • Parenting groups and marriage cohorts

  • Creative groups

  • Recreational groups

We want to empower you—the church—to dream, initiate, and lead groups rooted in your passions, contexts, and seasons of life. If you have an idea, we want to help you bring it to life.
